Airsoft Paintball
Airsoft is a modern combat sport or hobby in which the players eliminate each other by shooting pellets from a compressed air gun which is powered by gas, manual spring load or electric gear box. Like paintball, airsoft players organize teams, have leagues, and play on dedicated fields in a variety of games such as scenario, woodsball, and historical reenactments. Although airsoft and paintball sports are similar and follow many of the same rules and regulations there are some differences that must be addressed.
-The guns or markers used in airsoft and paintball differ in that paintball guns have a hopper in which you pour paintballs into; whereas airsoft uses 6mm BB’s and they are loaded into clips. It is usually easier to reload the clips in an airsoft gun than in a paintball gun. You just load another light-weight clip into the gun vice in paintball having to carry around a ready supply of balls.
-Airsoft pellets are very small and the chance of them hitting an object prior to the intended target is unlikely. In paintball, it is not uncommon for the larger paintballs to hit a tree branch, causing them to be off target.
-The maneuverability of a player using an airsoft gun is much better due to it being less bulky whereas with a paintball gun you must lug around an external CO2 or compressed air container.
-Maintenance is a key factor when playing paintball. Paintball guns have to be oiled, cleaned, and refilled frequently depending on how much it is used. Airsoft guns that have electric and manual spring loaders do not have to be refilled although the gas powered guns do.
-A bad thing about airsoft guns is during battle there is no distinct way to know if an opposing player is hit. The game is played on an honor system and many times competitive players will deny being hit. Not the case in paintball where the proof is splashed all over the hit player.
Some of the more popular airsoft guns include the DPMS Panther Arms M733 AEG Airsoft Rifle which is for the advanced user. For the beginner, I would suggest the Palco Firepower SRT-SD3 Airsoft Machine Gun with Silencer
which is less expensive and a great starting gun with a little power. If you are looking for a pistol try the AK997 9mm Airsoft Pellet Gun
a nice little gun to mess with. Remember that some guns are illegal in certain states as they look very much like the real thing.
